Laurie Danial has been an active painter and printmaker for the last 20 years. Her studio practice is informed by themes of the internal and personal while engaging the political events of contemporary culture.
"These days I am less preoccupied with figuration or a pictorial narrative, although my love of rendering and the interplay between more illustrative forms of iconography and the formal concerns of abstraction may prevent me from completely crossing over. I am committed to a parlance of abstraction and gesture with allowance for accidents, urges and surprise. I have come to willingly entertain a level of anxiety and exhilaration that comes from not knowing."
