Froelick Gallery mourns the death of Robert Aland Hollingsworth. Mr. Hollingsworth was killed in a car accident on February 28, 2007, at the age of 88.
Born in 1918, Mr. Hollingsworth studied at the Navy School of Photography in 1942 before service. From 1948-50 he attended the California School of Fine Art, studying with Minor White. He made photography his life-long career. Hollingsworth playfully coined the term plagraphy (a mixture of the words plagiarism and phototgraphy) to acknowledge that his photographs capture scenes created by nature or others.
